Main Responsibilities

PRISONER CUSTODY OFFICER - INVERNESS

35 hours per week

Salary - £9.03 per hour

If the answer to these questions is yes – then we are looking for you to join our team of Prisoner Custody Officers.

G4S has been contracted by The Scottish Prison Service to provide all court custody and escorting services in Scotland.  The Court Custody and Prisoner Escorting Scotland contract includes the escorting of prisoners throughout Scotland, between prisons, police stations and courts as well as all external visits, including the management of prisoners whilst in hospital. The contract involves the transport and management of around 180,000 prisoners each year utilising a fleet of over 140 specialised vehicles supported by approximately 750 employees.

Whether you are driving one of our purpose-built secure vehicles, conducting searches, escorting prisoners, managing prisoners at Court, or managing prisoners detained in hospital, your focus will always be on safety and security whilst treating people with respect and consideration. 

The Ideal Candidate

You will be trained to ensure that all prisoners are dealt with fairly, consistently and in line with regulations.  In this fast paced environment, you will need to remain calm under pressure and be able to adapt to changing situations.

To train for a career that’s both challenging and rewarding, you will need to be able to demonstrate great people skills along with a non-judgmental approach.

This role requires the ability to deal with vulnerable and difficult people whilst maintaining high standards of integrity and service delivery. Awareness of security is paramount along with strong communication and interpersonal skills.

The role requires you to travel to various locations.

A current full UK driving licence is essential.

C1 licence or higher including a Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) is desirable to the role.  Training can be provided where applicable.
