Job Outline:

  • The Head of Governance will lead the Governance function within G4S Health Services and will be an integral member of the G4S Health Services management team.  The postholder will  play a key role in providing operational advice on the appropriate governance of a clinical service and provide day-to-day leadership and management of the governance team.
  • The role will support service delivery teams in the achievement of a quality-assured, safe service to ensure they meet statutory, quality and governance requirements.
  • They will support the service managers in delivering efficient, effective, integrated, quality clinical provision.
  • This role will require analysis and interpretation of complex quantitative and qualitative information in order to support the resolution of issues.  In addition, the post holder will support the development of quality audits and reports for regular and ad hoc meetings.  
  • The role will also involve managing a team.

 

Responsibilities:

GENERAL

  • Assure G4S Health and the G4S Regional Board that the relevant and appropriate systems and processes are in place to evidence that services are safe, and meet statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop clinical compliance framework to ensure individual and statutory reporting requirements are met and have been reviewed through G4S Health Services committee structures.
  • Work with lead managers to ensure that all required audit and quality reports are produced on time and with health excom sign-off if required.
  • Develop processes to monitor and report actions resulting from internal and external audits. Escalate/report issues when appropriate.
  • Support and advise staff across the organisation in the implementation and review of compliance, governance and regulatory requirements.
  • Produce routine and exception reports identifying potential risks to compliance and the action to be taken and monitored.
  • Scrutinise and maintain the G4S Health Risk Register.
  • Attend/Lead Clinical Governance Committees and meetings as and when required/appropriate.
  • Promote the role and function of the Clinical Governance team.
  • Develop and maintain effective and professional communication and working relationships within G4S Health Services and wider G4S.
  • Stay informed/ updated with current NHS/industry best practices and regularly review/update policies and procedures.
  • Undertake any other duties as felt appropriate to acieve the overarching objectives of the role.

 

QUALITY

  • Embed quality improvement activities across the business.
  • Deliver required approved annual audit schedule including production of timely accurate reports and assurance of recommendation closure.
  • Support the development of all audit tools across all health sectors.
  • Ensure that quality assurance audits take place, complete the audit cycles and demonstrate measurable changes/improvement in practice.
  • Provide data trends and analysis to support quality assurance and quality improvement.
  • Analyse, interpret and present data to highlight issues, risks and support decision-making.
  • Manage and deliver RCA reports that inform the Health Excom/Commissioner /CQC of compliance, strengths and weaknesses.
  • Develop existing governance policies and procedures to match NHS/industry best practice, ensuring they meet with internal corporate policy and external regulatory standards.
  • Maintain incident reporting via InfoExchange and ensure learning from incidents is shared throughout the organisation in order to improve patient safety and safeguard staff.

The Ideal Candidate

Essential Skills:

  • NMC or HCPC registrant.
  • Good working knowledge of health regulatory framework and NHS commissioning requirements.
  • Proven Audit experience.
  • Data analysis experience.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, negotiating and influencing skills.
  • Demonstrates a flexible approach to engagement with stakeholders.
  • Managing difficult and complex situations.
  • Ability to produce accurate and detailed reporting.
  • Well-developed written and presentational skills.
  • Ability to deliver and work across multiple sites and services.
  • Work autonomously.
  • Demonstrate accountability and ownership of work.
  • Fully mobile and valid UK driving license.
  • Multi-site vetting clearance.
  • Tenacious and questioning mind, with an appetite to identify and understand implications of data being analysed.
