Salary : £31,800.00 per annum

Full-Time (40 hours per week)

G4S Children's Services works closely with the Home Office, Youth Justice Board for England and Wales and the Ministry of Justice to ensure that its regimes and designs reflect best practice in residential care to prevent offending.

At Oakhill Secure Training Centre we look after young people aged 12 to 18 years old who have been remanded or sentenced to periods of detention. The vulnerable young people in our care can be challenging with a wide range of social and emotional complex needs. This is an environment that calls for high standards of social care and service delivery to provide a secure and stable environment for young people to develop their life skills and address the behaviours that have led them into custody. 

We are looking to recruit a Youth Engagement Coordinator to join our team at Oakhill Secure Training Centre to ensure that a stable and secure environment is provided for all young people that promotes anti offending behaviour in line with legislation, contractual and company requirements Engagement of young people within the centre to promote positive behaviour. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate to young people, through pro-social modelling, the value of education and care, and the ability to develop skills and change their behaviour, encouraging them not to re-offend when released.
  • Form trusting, respectful, boundaried, professional relationships with young people, in order that they respond and react appropriately to information and guidance. Maintain a pastoral role, delivering interventions and support to manage vulnerabilities and complex needs
  • Support the safeguarding agenda with bullying
  • Assist in the promotion of creating a positive Health & Safety culture to achieve and maintain recognition as a British Safety Council 5 Star business unit..
  • Plan and manage internal and external activity opportunities for young people as and when required
  • Facilitate group and individual offending behaviour programmes and workshops, complying with training plans and within contractual compliance, in order to reduce offending.
  • Support the senior management team in the implementation of development strategies promoting a positive approach to ensure the change process is embraced.

The Ideal Candidate

Essential Skills

  • Previous secure residential experience within child-care
  • Completion or willingness to complete level 3 award in leadership and management
  • Strong understanding of behaviour management and safeguarding

 

Desirable Skills

  • Experience of monitoring service delivery and meeting short term objectives
  • Experience of implementing individual planning and support
