Salary: £45,900.00 - £51,770.95 per annum

Full time: 40 hours per week

We’re bigger, more diverse and involved in more fascinating, cutting-edge projects than many people would imagine and we now have an opportunity for a part-time Administrator to join our team at HMP Altcourse, a category B local prison, in Fazakerly Liverpool, holding over 1200 adult male offenders.

HMP Altcourse was recently commended in their HMIP report for key areas bucking the trend when compared to other local prisons. This has been supported by a positive staff culture, a good focus on decency and an excellent regime that is being delivered consistently. Overall, HMP Altcourse demonstrates that a local prison can provide fundamentally decent treatment and conditions for prisoners, despite facing many of the same challenges as the rest of the prison service.

The successful candidate provide effective management of the relevant functional department and activities in line with customer and contractual requirements

  • Manage contracts with external suppliers to ensure contract compliance and cost effective delivery of services
  • To meet or exceed contractual requirements for your functional area
  • To meet or exceed all functional Service Delivery Targets (SDTs) and ensure maximum score on PRS
  • To deliver and develop functional business plan
  • To manage and control devolved budgets to meet functional targets
  • To ensure that all audits / assurance statements relevant to your functional area are achieved
  • To work collaboratively with other functional managers to ensure that the prison delivers to maximum capacity
  • To ensure management of the non-effective for your function with a key focus on control of sickness absence, TOIL and achieving annual leave and training targets
  • To ensure all EDRs are completed on time and are subject to an effective quality assurance process
  • To ensure that all direct reports have a bi-monthly Bi-Lat Meeting and that these are conducted throughout the function
  • To deliver a fair, decent and challenging regime for prisoners which maximises the opportunities for reducing risk and preventing re-offending
  • To respond thoroughly and within time parameters to all prisoner applications, complaints and grievances
  • To actively promote the safety and decency agenda with staff and prisoners
  • To promote the concept of community inclusion, ensuring that all equality and diversity standards are maintained at all times
  • To act as Duty Director and to ensure that all incident reporting procedures are followed along with the effective management of incidents
  • To conduct adjudications in line with standards to ensure that hearings are conducted fairly, fully and impartially in line with the establishment tariff
  • To conduct investigations and projects as requested by the Director
