The Home Office’s COMPASS (Commercial and Operational Managers Procuring Asylum Support Services) contracts provide accommodation and transport services to eligible asylum applicants in the UK. G4S manages contracts for these services in the Midlands and East of England and the North East, Yorkshire & Humberside. Services are delivered through a combination of direct delivery and a network of experienced partners from the private, public and voluntary sectors.

We now have an opportunity for Transport Officers to join our team. 

Job Outline:

To undertake the safe and secure transportation of Asylum Seekers, their Dependent Children and luggage to and from Initial Accommodation, and any other point of claim or journey as directed. Complete and return documentation relating to transportation journeys. Support the Technical Services Repair and Maintenance functions. Deliver, build and install inventory and remove associated waste from properties and assist with the warehouse function.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide and deliver inventory for all properties and clear any associated waste and maintain habitable conditions for service users
  • Build, repair and replace inventory as required by the Inventory Officer
  • Assist with the warehouse function such as deliveries and storage as required
  • Support with any other potential Tech Services and Customer Services needs as required
  • Maintain the welfare and care of the service users and their dependent children to a consistently high standard, ensuring their moral and legal rights are observed and the constant care of their property is undertaken.
  • Escort the service users and their dependent children in full compliance with the instructions, regulations and guidelines produced by G4S and agreed by Home Office
  • Drive company vehicles as required complying with statutory regulations and company policies and procedures to ensure safe practice, ensure vehicles are kept clean and road worthy
  • Report fit for duty properly attired, in possession of the full equipment and personal documentation needed to carry out the task.
  • Complete and dispatch relevant paperwork in relation to driving and auditing responsibilities, providing exception reporting as necessary to rectify any identified issues

The Ideal Candidate

Essential Skills:

  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Capable to carry out physically manual tasks

Desirable Skills:

  • UK PCV Licence 
  • Understanding of UK Geography 
  • Understanding of UK asylum process
