Job Outline:

The Logistic Specialists Manager is responsible for the Logistics Specialist and Planning team, ensuring intelligent decisions are being made across PTS to maximise resource efficiency and improve service levels to patients and clients alike. To ensure KPI’s are met and resources are fully utilised, recommending operating changes to introduce lasting improvements. To assist planning, control and logistics by ensuring the best chance of successful outcomes. To help develop the teams and Chelmsford as a centre of excellence in all respects but particularly in Control, Planning, and use of our operating systems.

Responsibilities:

  • To develop specialist, detailed, technical knowledge of our operating system to an expert level in order to assess and compliment complex scenarios
  • To ensure the planning and logistics specialists teams are fully trained on all aspects of our operating system to a minimum of ‘skilled’ level
  • Ensure all site day controllers are trained to a minimum of ‘skilled’ level as a part of the extended team
  • To implement and maintain operational integration for the logistics specialists and planners against a diverse set of contracts/functions
  • Work as part of a team to carry out the above functions and represent G4S care and justice within the NHS Contracts
  • Ensure your direct team and extended functional teams are working to a consistent level, maximising utilisation of available resources and reducing vehicle downtime
  • Ensure comprehensive handovers are performed at the end of each shift, highlighting any issues or concerns
  • To participate on specific conference calls when required and to feedback information or actions required accurately to the team
  • Within a defined scope, make clear and concise decisions that are in line with the protocols set out by the control centre management team.
  • Introduce a continuous improvement culture in all aspects within all team members
  • Work methodically towards resolution of issues that may occur during the shift.
  • Observe the team to ensure their performance is of a high standard and arrange one to ones periodically. 
  • Encourage the independent growth of each individual, whilst strongly promoting the importance of working together as a team.
  • To keep up to date and complete training as requested.
  • Provide SMART objectives for each member of staff aimed at delivering the key metrics defined by the senior management
  • Complete EDR’s with each member of your team
  • Ensure the daily log is updated by Logistic Specialists
  • Lead, motivate and monitor staff in order to develop and improve their skills, so that expectations are continually met or exceeded.
  • Ensure the contracted services are delivered on a timely basis to the required standard in line with policies and procedures.
  • Provide support and advice to site control and be the point of escalation for any complex situations
  • Assist in all aspects of planning including shift rosters, ensuring relevant cover throughout the year
  • Deal with staff matters which arise such as grievances or disciplinary
  • Carry out any other duties relevant to the role as directed by your Support Administration Manager.
  • The post holder must not divulge any confidential information to an unauthorised person that they may access during their employment

Essential Skills:

Desirable Skills:

  • Previous Team Leader/Supervisor experience
  • Knowledge of Patient Transport Services
  • Experience of working in confidential environment
  • Basic literacy and numeracy are required
  • Geographical knowledge of the local area to be worked within
