Job Outline:

To support the Employee Support Services business in delivering a professional, effective HR plan and service in line with business and wider organisation objectives. Working in partnership with the Senior HR business partner, you will support the delivery of group, national and business wide initiatives/changes for HR related matters.  The post holder will also be responsible for managing a team of workforce co-ordinators who support workforce compliance in respect of vetting, payroll, workforce planning/recruitment and management reporting.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide HR advice and support to SMT’s and managers on HR related matters across the businesses.
  • To undertake all necessary duties of a HR Adviser in relation to a defined portfolio of operational service area(s) including disciplinary, grievance, TUPE, absence and capability.
  • Provide advice and guidance on relevant terms & conditions of employment and employment related policies, procedures and practice across all business areas.
  • Develop, monitor, and review HR policies and procedures to ensure legal compliance whilst being fit for purpose.
  • Liaise with staff representative on employee relation matters including pay negotiations if applicable.
  • Ensure clear workforce planning systems are in place and recruitment plans implemented to support.
  • Ensure vetting compliance is fulfilled for all employees.
  • Support the delivery of efficient and accurate payroll completion for employees within business area.
  • Line manage team members ensuring performance, development and completion of annual appraisals in line with company processes.
  • Support Senior Management team with annual appraisals and APRs.
  • Support G4S business with bid and tendering work, working in conjunction with the cost modeller and other relevant HR practitioners.
  • To develop effective mobilisation plans (in conjunction with Managers and other HR colleagues) for TUPEs “in” and an effective strategy for any TUPEs “out”.
  • Attend and support business Management meetings as and when required.
  • Attend and contribute to cross business meetings/activity as required.
  • Produce and collate relevant management information as required.
  • Highlight issues with a strategic, legal or employee relations impact to the SHRBP
  • Support the education and coaching to line managers.
  • To keep up to date and complete training as requested.
  • Adhere, at all times, to the Data Protection ICT and Confidentiality Policy.
  • To understand the escalation process and implement when necessary.
  • To work as a team to support colleagues.
  • Have the ability to work in a fast pace environment.
  • Follow all appropriate safety procedures and report any potential hazards or possible misuse of the service to line manager.
  • Carry out any other duties relevant to the role as directed by your Manager or other manager.

The Ideal Candidate

Essential Skills:

  • Previous experience of working as a HR Advisor.
  • Experience in change management.
  • Be accustomed to working in a challenging fast paced environment, whilst working on multiple projects simultaneously to specific deadlines.
  • Have attention to detail, with excellent organisational and planning skills – able to work to tight time constraints.
  • An excellent communicator, both verbal and written.
  • Sound, up to date knowledge of UK employment law.
  • Experience of collating, analysing and evaluation of information.
  • Able to build and maintain relationships with a wide range of people gaining credibility at all levels.
  • The ability to influence and negotiate.
  • Able to challenge current practices in a constructive manner.
  • Ability to work autonomously.
  • Flexibility to travel within own geographical area of responsibility and wider G4S locations.

Desirable Skills:

  • Educated to degree level, CIPD qualified or evidence of CPD HR equivalent experience.
  • Call centre environment
  • Experience of working with staff representative groups.
  • Experience of supporting mobilisation and restructuring.
