At HMP Oakwood we aim to inspire, motivate and guide prisoners to become the best they can be. We offer state of the art facilities, full time employment, programmes and access to Physical Health and Wellbeing initiatives.

It is located next to the existing HMP Featherstone and HMP Brinsford near Wolverhampton. HMP Oakwood will be one of the largest prisons in England and Wales, providing places for up to 1,605 Category C male prisoners.

The successful candidate will be required to undertake delivery of employability related subjects throughout the wider prison.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver the curriculum relevant to specialist
  • Assist in the development of learning materials to ensure quality and consistency of teaching materials.
  • Undertake assessments so that prisoners have the opportunity to achieve recognised qualifications.
  • Complete all documentation as required to meet the requirements of the Company, the contract and relevant external bodies.
  • Monitor student progress so that students receive appropriate support to achieve their goals and contractual requirements are fulfilled.
  • Manage the teaching environment ensuring security of tools and equipment and maintenance of equipment to contractual requirements.
  • Assist in maintaining a positive Health & Safety culture
  • Ensure the maintenance of security within the prison environment by compliance with security instructions.

The Ideal Candidate

Essential Skills

  • Appropriate teaching qualification and/ or a commitment to gain the specialist level 4 qualification relevant to the subject area

 

Desirable Skills

  • Experience of project/ work planning, monitoring and reviewing
