Main Responsibilities

A PFI prison which opened in 2001, it is a category B training prison acting as a national resource for sentenced male adults who have been convicted of a current or previous sex offence(s). The capacity of the prison is 625.

The sentence requirement for HMP Rye Hill is for prisoners who have been sentenced to over four years and have at least 12 months left to serve. No more than 15% of the population must be in denial of their offence.

Job Outline

We are looking for a HR Administrator to provide administrative support to the HR function in line with Company policy and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support to ensure the smooth running of the department.
  • Create and maintain HR records, both computerised and manual for all staff related issues so that accurate information is kept.
  • Co-ordinate all recruitment activities to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Undertake relevant test administration as requested to ensure standards are met.
  • Organise and co-ordinate activities e.g. meetings, diaries, events, travel etc. to ensure individual and departmental objectives are met.
  • Order uniform for all new and existing staff ensuring timely supply within budget.
  • Collate, produce and distribute regular and ad hoc data, statistics and reports to individuals and departments to meet specified requirements.
  • Undertake security screening activities within the company procedure, liaising where appropriate with external agencies and HO security screening department to ensure company standards are met.
  • Deal with routine HR related queries ensuring appropriate actions can be taken in a timely manner.
  • Administer the payroll system and processes, answering queries to ensure accurate payment.
  • Act in accordance with security and operational instructions at all times to ensure the maintenance of security within the secure environment. (As required by secure establishments).

Essential Skills

  • Experience in similar role
  • Comprehensive understanding of systems and procedures
  • Ability to use Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook Email & Calendar

Desirable Skills

  • Completion of the CIPD certificate in Personnel Practice
