Salary £48,000 per annum, plus Company Car, Company Bonus and Pension Scheme.

The G4S healthcare provision is a 24 hour, 365 days a year service and is equivalent to that available in the community and includes long term and short term health conditions: GP and nursing, pharmacy, dentistry, sexual health, mental health and substance misuse. These are all delivered within a comprehensive clinical governance framework through the G4S Clinical Governance panel.

Job Outline

To lead, manage and develop the healthcare contracts within Secure Health to ensure customer expectations are met with contractual obligations and compliance. To ensure the delivery of high quality and excellent value primary services, commensurate with that available within the community. To ensure that the service for which the post holder is responsible are delivered within budget.

Key Responsibilities

  • To actively and systematically recruit and select the best people for employment
  • Lead and motivate staff, in order to ensure efficient achievement of contractual requirements, so that customer expectations are continually met or exceeded, adopting best practice
  • Actively involves others in the development of change plans, gaining acceptance and winning their co-operation to get things done
  • Provide support and advice to staff and develop staffing order to create a committed and effective workforce
  • To create and encourage a climate of trust and openness to encourage others to fully and openly state their diverse ideas, feelings and beliefs, without fear of criticism, judgment or punishment
  • Chair and attend meetings with staff and management, to ensure that information is shared clearly and effectively, so that a uniform approach can be maintained
  • Sets and maintains standards of behavior which encourage fairness, respect, impartiality and consistency
  • To build strong and effective relationships through teamwork and collaboration with the client and stakeholders
  • Ensure all operating practices and procedures are adhered to so that a safe and secure working environment is provided for employees.
  • To actively support and develop others through feedback and development opportunities.
  • Respond to any problem or issues in their area of management, liaising where necessary with other G4S departments or other agencies to ensure these are dealt with in an appropriate manner
  • Management of critical incidents and complaints
  • To recognise the implications of decisions and actions across the wider organisation
  • To identify, priorities and act upon the urgent and important issues
  • Communicates complex situations in straightforward, comprehensible terms and action plans
  • Strives to understand customer needs
  • Actively builds relationships and develops networks which are beneficial to G4S.
  • Monitors competitors to identify potential threats and opportunities.
  • Provide and produce reports, documents and information on a regular and ad-hoc basis, so that management and others are fully appraised, ensuring informed decisions can be made

The Ideal Candidate

Essential Skills

  • Effective communication, negotiation and influencing skills
  • Substantial experience of working with a detained population in a secure environment
  • Excellent written and communication skills evidenced by the ability to prepare reports for a variety of audiences
  • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to convey complex and sensitive information to a variety of audiences, often with significant barriers.
  • Ability to concentrate on specific complex matters, whilst dealing with unplanned interruptions.
  • Time management and administrative ability
  • IT literacy, able to use Microsoft Excel
  • Will require multi-site clearances
  • Ability to comply with the sometimes extensive travel requirements of the post
  • Must be prepared to work outside traditional office hours

 

Desirable Skills

  • Degree/ equivalent qualification
  • Clear understanding of key issues in healthcare and changes in commissioning.
  • Specialist professional qualification
