Shifts: 42 hours, 2 days, 2 nights on and 4 off.

G4S Health Services are looking for dynamic, enthusiastic & dedicated Forensic Nurse and Paramedics to work in custody settings across the UK.  The ideal Paramedic would be someone who has at least two years post registration experience, and is ready for a new challenge, supporting some of the most vulnerable members of society.

What you'll be doing:

As a Forensic Nurse or Paramedic you have the opportunity to operate with an incredibly diverse range of patients in a unique setting and often at a particularly vulnerable point in their life. You will be assessing and treating the immediate healthcare needs of these patients, whilst playing a pivotal role in the criminal justice process.

What the role involves:

In addition to traditional healthcare assessments of your patient, as a Forensic Nurse or Paramedic you will make recommendations to the Force regarding management of the patient whilst in their care.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assessment/Treatment of illnesses and injuries

  • Determination of fitness to be detained in custody

  • Determination of fitness to be released

  • Determination of fitness to be charged: competent to understand charge

  • Determination to transfer, or be interviewed by the police detaining body

  • Examination and forensic sampling of adult suspects of serious crime

  • To carry out examinations in accordance with G4S medical Services guidelines

  • All police calls should be attended without delay

  • To be available for court attendance when requested

  • To treat the detained person as a patient and make clear that no evidence can be treated in ‘confidence’

 

The Ideal Candidate

 

Essential Skills

  • State registered paramedic or nurse with at least 2-3 years post qualification experience.
  • Ability to take blood samples
  • Full Driving License
  • Own vehicle
  • Experience in an autonomous/lone working role
