Job Outline:    

To provide professional support to a large and diverse business on all aspects of H&S.  Collaborating with the wider compliance team to ensure policy, processes and tools are aligned across all functions and specialties within the business, to drive forward compliance initiatives aiding the business to further develop a safety culture where everyone takes personal responsibility. 

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain business H&S Policy and associated management systems, enabling H&S to be an integrated part of everyone’s daily business.
  • Advise, support and guide the management and staff teams on the implementation of the Company Health, Safety and Welfare, and Environmental policies, other relevant legislation, developing local policies and procedures where appropriate, including records maintenance to ensure that the establishment/area is run safely in line with legislative and contractual requirements & company standards.
  • Provide practical support and assistance as needed to existing and new operational sites.
  • Undertake and support audits, inspections and tours for own areas of responsibility to ensure the safety and well being of employees, stakeholders and others involved in the service delivery.
  • Develop, maintain and monitor an effective health and safety management system, in liaison with all stakeholders, to ensure the health and safety of all persons affected by the Company’s undertaking.
  • Investigate and report on accidents that occur as per company policy and procedures, liaising with key stakeholders as necessary, to ensure that lessons learnt are acted upon and that risk of reoccurrences are minimised.
  • Develop and advise on health, safety and environmental strategies for business development activities, including acquisitions, demonstrating the company’s professional health, safety and environmental competence and to meet customer and enforcing agency requirements.
  • Create and maintain written and verbal communication systems across all business areas and with external agencies ensuring accurate processing and dissemination of relevant information to appropriate stakeholders.
  • Develop and manage the delivery and maintenance of Health, Safety and Environmental awareness training programmes, support materials and literature in liaison with HR and Training & Development ensuring training remains relevant and in line with legislative and company requirements.
  • Influence, contribute and liaise with internal stakeholders, partners/subcontractors and external agencies to ensure effective co-ordination, delivery and co-operation on Health, Safety and Environmental policy, procedures and issues.
  • In conjunction with business senior management team, develop and maintain an effective risk register.
  • Undertake the role as required on National Working Groups.
  • Maintain a working relationship with customer through regular meetings and customer led audits.
  • Undertake the role as a member of Senior Management Team within the business.
  • Keep up to date with industry good practice, legislation and innovation and as such provide regular updates/briefings on H&S initiatives, development and legislation matters.
  • Provide strategic leadership on H&S matters for business.
  • Provide project management for specific projects as requested.
  • Engage with wider G4S H&S leadership across the UK & Ireland Region to ensure best practice is shared

 

The Ideal Candidate

Responsiblities:

  • NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent)
  • Chartered Safety Practitioner
  • Accident Investigation Qualification
  • 5 years’ experience in a hands on safety role, preferably Understanding of risks and requirements on building systems
  • Significant experience in a managerial Health and  Safety role
  • Fire Risk Assessment qualification
  • Auditing qualification
  • Ability to work on own initiative.
  • Mobile geographically across UK.
  • Ability to communicate at all levels with professionalism and integrity
