Salary: £21636.46 per annum
Full time: 39 hours per week (various shifts)

A PFI prison which opened in 2001, it is a category B training prison acting as a national resource for sentenced male adults who have been convicted of a current or previous sex offence(s). The capacity of the prison is 625.

HMP Rye Hill is now looking for two full-time Security Officers (SO) to join the Security Team.

Key responsibilities in the role include:

•    Search vehicles, occupants of vehicles, visitors and their property on access or egress through the prison lock, using technical aids, to ensure the security of the Prison is maintained.
•    Participate with ‘Internal’ and ‘External’ vehicle escorts and patrols where necessary, wearing the correct high visibility PPE, ensuring compliance with contractual requirements.
•    Monitor and operate CCTV Cameras (including Visits CCTV), and radio network in line with relevant procedures to maintain Prison Security.
•    Issue keys, tallies and radios to authorised personnel and ensure security keys are not removed from the Prison, reporting all discrepancies immediately to the Duty Manager. 
•    To complete the correct gate logs for issuing loan keys, radios and key boxes.
•    Answer and screen ‘Internal’ and ‘External’ telephone calls , to ensure they are identified before being directed to the correct point of contact or ‘Messages’ are taken and passed on to the appropriate person for action or response.
•    Ensure all authorised visitors are entered onto the CMS system and issued with a valid pass before they enter the Prison and ensure all tool check lists are completed for contractors’ equipment entering and exiting the Prison, maintaining Prison Security.
•    Monitor and respond to situations as they arise using the appropriate equipment to ensure that situations are dealt with promptly and the appropriate action/response is taken.
•    Co-ordinate, control and monitor the movement of staff, prisoners and visitors around the establishment to ensure they arrive at the correct destination safely and securely, in a timely and efficient manner.
•    Maintain security in the Visitors Centre, ensuring that the building is searched and locked at the end of each session, reporting any unusual occurrence to the Duty Manager. (Day Duties only).
