Tannochside, Glasgow

£23,789.24 per annum

Full Time (42 hours per week)

Hours of Work:

1 x Controller – Monday to Friday, early / back rotation (6.30am – 15.00pm / 1300pm – 21.30pm)

1 x Controller - 4 on / 4 off constant nightshift (19.00pm – 07.00am)

G4S has been contracted by The Scottish Prison Service to provide all court custody and escorting services in Scotland covering eight bases across Scotland and routes add up to approximately 13,000 miles travelled per day. The seven-year contract includes the escorting of all prisoners  in mainland Scotland and islands, between prisons,  police stations and courts as well as all external  visits, including hospital visits. The contract is likely to involve the transport of around 180,000 prisoners each year. G4S has a fleet of over 140 specialised vehicles and employ around 750 employees on the contract.

We are looking to recruit a Operations Controllers to be based at our site in Tannochside. The successful candidate will plan and coordinate the operational resources to effectively and efficiently support the delivery of the contract on a daily basis.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process and validate all customer requests for prisoner transportation and ensure that data is accurately and timely recorded onto PACS
  • Plan time efficient routes for all phases of the operation utilising available resources effectively in order to meet customer and contractual requirements.
  • Coordinate all aspects of prisoner movements ensuring that Standard Operating Procedures are complied with whilst achieving all contractual targets.
  • Update and amend Prisoner Transport Request details on PACS as required in order that the data accurately reflects the actual events of the day.
  • Ensure that staff hours are coordinated to the optimum efficiency in compliance with all legislation, whilst considering excessive long days and negative hours
  • Co-ordinate response to serious incidents, liaising with the appropriate managers, agencies and stakeholders, analyse, collate and report all incidents to the relevant authorities in accordance with contractual timescales.
  • Build effective and collaborative relationships with operational staff, agencies and other stakeholders ensuring effective communication of relevant information in compliance with Data Protection Legislation
  • Ensure all services are optimised through regular sense checking.

The Ideal Candidate

Essential Skills:

  • Fully conversant with operational procedures and systems as well as contractual requirements

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience of monitoring service delivery and meeting short term objectives
