At HMP Birmingham we are extremely proud of our long history, heritage and the wealth of experience that comes with a prison that has been open since 1849. HMP Birmingham was also the first ever public sector prison to be transferred into the private sector estate.
We are currently looking for a motivated individual to join our team as a HR Officer. The ideal candidate will require basic generalist HR experience and must be able to work in a fast paced envrionment whilst providing high quality service. They will be required to support the HR team in the provision of professional advice, guidance and support to operational and line management to meet the needs of the business in line with legislation and best practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, recruit and select front line and administrative staff and junior management to meet the business unit requirements including the organisation of assessment days.
- Produce a daily absence report and liaise with managers to ensure effective management of absence, assisting in home visits, retention interviews and provision of occupational health reports where required.
- Assist Management in responding to flexible working applications to ensure compliance with legislation and consistency within the establishment.
- Co-ordinate exit interviews and ensure all leaver documentation is produced in a timely manner and forwarded to payroll for processing.
- Provide professional HR support and accurate and appropriate advice, including advice on HR policy and procedures, to line management.
- Provide accurate data and support in the provision of management information, in order to inform line management of trends and statistics, in accordance with company requirements.
- Support where necessary, the requirement to check and validate the accuracy of monthly payroll, ensuring that Terms and Conditions, pay rules and deadlines are met.
- Act in accordance with security and operational instructions at all times to ensure the maintenance of security within the secure environment. (As required by secure establishments).
- Support the HR Advisor and HRBP with ad-hoc projects as required.
