We are currently looking for a Porter to join our team based at Croydon University Hospital, CR7 7YE.

 

This is a full time role working 35 hours per week (5 out of 7 shifts) between 07:00 - 15:00, 15:00-23:00, 11:00-19:00

 

The hourly rate of pay is £11.05, plus if applicable an additional £1.20 per hour for any unsocial hours worked at weekends or at night between 22.00 - 06.00.

 

As a Porter, you will be responsible for the appropriate transfer of patients, equipment and goods.

 

Key Responsibilities will include:

 

  • Use machinery, equipment or materials as required, throughout the Hospital site, ensuring the use of such machinery complies with all requirements including cleanliness.

  • Collect dirty linen or any other items as directed throughout the Hospital Site as per Trust policies, ensuring that all items collected are placed in the appropriate containers.  

  • Deliver clean linen or other items throughout the Hospital Site as requested, obtaining signatures from receiving parties as appropriate.

  • Unload, store and deliver medical gas cylinders in a safe manner throughout the Hospital Site.  Where appropriate or where requested, change medical gas cylinders throughout the Hospital Site.

  • Transfer patients using appropriate equipment.  Escort patients, visitors or staff as appropriate.

  • Assist with the transference of deceased patients to the mortuary.  Assist with the viewings of bodies in the hospital.

  • Provide a collection and delivery service for specimens, blood products, medical records and any other items related to patient care as directed on the Hospital Site.

  • Assist the Main Reception Desks with patient arrivals and transport duties as and when necessary or required.

  • Move furniture and equipment etc., within and between and throughout the Hospital Site, as and when necessary or required, ensuring that items such as patient trolleys, beds and wheelchairs etc. are in correct areas at all times.

  • Assist Security as required in dealing with non-violent, non-aggressive duties (e.g. traffic control).

  • Act upon, attend and assist Fire alarms, Lift Alarms, Attack Alarms, Bomb Alerts and participate in evacuating procedures in line with Trust Evacuation Policy.

  • Issue and receive keys as per Trust policy, locking and unlocking doors as and when necessary or required.

  • Removing and transferring waste bins between Hospital areas and Waste Disposal Site. Ensuring regular

  • supply of empty bins for the use of Wards/Departments. Ensuring waste disposal conformances are adhered to at all the time.
