Job Introduction

                                Vacancy: Shift Supervisor

Reporting Contract Manager or Customer Services Manager, the Supervisor coordinates the provision of contractual security services to customers within the region, in compliance with legislation, Company policies and procedures.

The successful incumbent is a self-starter with a proven track record in maintaining company policy, adopting best practices, and is able to exercise sound judgement in the pursuit of the achievement of the goals of the organisation, and understanding the role which (operations / support / management *pick one) plays within a successful business unit. The incumbent will be expected to be results driven and to live the values of the organisation.

Main Responsibilities

Reporting Contract Manager or Customer Services Manager, the Supervisor coordinates the provision of contractual security services to customers within the region, in compliance with legislation, Company policies and procedures.

Main responsibilities:

Effective co-ordination of operations in compliance with legislation and G4S policy

  • Management of absenteeism and deployment of personnel to cover posts.
  • Allocation and distribution of rosters.
  • Conduct on site training and induction for current and new employees.
  • Conduct site visit and inspections, focusing of application of site instructions and G4S Policy.
  • Co-ordinate and control the allocation of deployment vehicles.

Effective management of the financial performance of the contract

  • Ensure effective cost control occurs in respect to fuel, cellphones, site assets and expenses.

Maintenance of required standards of employee performance and behaviour in the region

  • Ensuring that performance assessments of all subordinate employees are conducted, and corrective action implemented where necessary.
  • Ensuring that acceptable standards of behaviour at work are maintained by all subordinate employees, as required by G4S’s code of conduct and disciplinary code.
  • Ensuring that all disciplinary actions are conducted in compliance with Company policies and procedures.
  • Administration and assistance with employee pay queries.

Health  and Safety

  • Participate in safety forums
  • Report all safety incidents
  • Attend safety education and refresher programmes
  • Comply with all safety policies and procedures in the workplace
  • Wear protective clothing at all times

The Ideal Candidate

Minimum Requirements:

  • Grade 10+ or equivalent
  • Driver’s Licence with PDP
  • PSIRA Grade B
  • Minimum 1 years’ experience in security management
